AI API

An AI API (Application Programming Interface) is a connection point that allows developers to integrate AI capabilities into their own applications and workflows. Instead of building AI from scratch, developers call an AI API to access a model's capabilities. Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google all offer APIs for their models.

For most business users, APIs are an implementation detail — what matters is what they enable: custom AI tools built specifically for your workflows, integrated with your existing systems, rather than generic off-the-shelf applications.
