Monday.com MCP: connect Monday.com to Claude and ChatGPT

Ask ChatGPT or Claude where the Q4 launch stands, which items on the Hiring board are marked Stuck, or what the team wrote in an item’s updates. The answer comes straight from monday.com, with a link to the item. No scrolling through boards.

With Deployed OS everyone connects their own monday.com login. The AI sees the boards that person sees, and it only adds an item when someone asks for one and confirms the name.

In practice

What your team can do with Monday.com in Claude and ChatGPT

Project lead

The board before stand-up

Every item on the sprint board with its status, owner and date, in the groups you already use. Ask what’s Stuck and why, and the AI reads the updates for you.
Account manager

The client’s project, before the call

Find the client’s item by name and get its columns and latest updates. You know what was delivered and what’s waiting, without messaging the project lead.
Management

Status across boards

Go through the project boards you follow and get every item marked Stuck in one list, with owner and date. Ready before the Monday meeting.
Any team

From meeting to board

Ask for the follow-ups from a meeting as new items in the right group. You confirm the names, the AI adds them. Owners and dates stay with you in monday.com.
Examples

Ask it like this

  • “Which items on the Q4 Launch board are marked Stuck, and what do their latest updates say?”

  • “Find the Acme rebrand item and summarise its updates.”

  • “List the boards in the Marketing workspace and how many items each one has.”

  • “What’s in the This week group on the Content board? Owner and date for each item.”

  • “What are the subitems of Website migration, and what status is it in?”

  • “Add an item called ‘Book venue for kick-off’ to the Planning group on the Events board.”

The connector

What the Monday.com MCP connector does today

  • Readsmonday_list_boards

List the boards you can see, most recently used first, in one workspace if you want: name, description, number of items, workspace and link.

  • Readsmonday_list_items

List a board’s items, up to 100 a page, or only those whose name contains some words, with each item’s group and column values.

  • Readsmonday_get_item

Read one item: its board and group, column values, the latest updates people wrote and its subitems, with a link.

  • Writesmonday_create_item

Create an item on a board, in a group if you want, with a name only. No person, date or other column is set, so nobody is assigned or notified, but the board’s own automations still run.

Security

Who sees what

Read, plus new items
The connector reads boards, items with their column values, updates and subitems. It can add an item with a name, in a group if you ask. It cannot fill in columns, edit, move or delete items, or post updates.
Each person’s own boards
Everyone connects their own monday.com login, so the AI sees the boards that person can see. A private board someone isn’t on stays out of reach.
You choose who gets it
Admins decide which groups at the company get the monday.com connector, and which of them may add items. Everyone else never sees it.
Every call logged
Who asked, which connector, when. Deployed OS shows reads and writes per connector and per person, and the log can be exported. Access is revoked centrally, including the day someone leaves.
Setup

Set up the Monday.com connector in three steps

01
An admin creates an app in the monday.com Developer Center, turns on the new OAuth flow, adds the redirect URL and scopes from Deployed OS and promotes it to live. An account admin installs it once. Your company owns the app.
02
The admin adds the app’s Client ID and Client secret to Deployed OS and chooses which groups get monday.com.
03
Each person connects with their own monday.com login. From then on they just ask, in ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot.
Compared

Monday.com’s own MCP server or Deployed OS?

There is a hosted MCP server from monday.com itself, and it works in Claude and ChatGPT. A person connects it with their own monday.com login or an API token. It is a good fit for one person, or a developer building on monday.com.

Deployed OS is built for the whole company. One company connection for monday.com and your other tools, each person’s own login, admins choosing which groups get what, and a log of every call. The same connection works in Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot, next to your company’s skills and guardrails.

Questions

Monday.com MCP: common questions

Yes, monday.com hosts its own MCP server, which a person connects to their own AI tool. Deployed OS gives the whole company one connection, with each person’s own login, access per group and a log of every call.

Yes. Deployed OS is your company’s own MCP, so the same monday.com connection works in ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot. Ask about a board in ChatGPT and the answer comes from monday.com, through your own login.

It can add an item with a name, in a group if you ask, once you have confirmed it, and your company’s guardrails apply. No column is filled in, so nobody is assigned or notified, but the board’s own automations still run. It cannot edit, move or delete items, or post updates. If you need more, we can extend it for you.

Yes, monday.com counts API calls per account and day, and the limit depends on your plan. The AI’s calls count towards it like any other app’s.

Someone who can create apps in the Developer Center builds the app, and an admin of your monday.com account installs it once. Then each person connects their own login. We walk you through the steps.

It depends on the size of your team. Get in touch and we will walk you through it.
