ChatGPT Enterprise: Pricing, Features, Data Terms and How It Compares with Business
ChatGPT Enterprise is OpenAI’s plan for large organisations, sold through OpenAI’s sales team with no published price. On top of ChatGPT Business it adds SCIM provisioning, audit logs through the Compliance API, your own retention period, data residency, your own encryption keys and per-role control over apps.
If what you really want is control over which company systems the AI reaches, and a log of it, you can get that on Business with a control layer outside ChatGPT.
What ChatGPT Enterprise is
ChatGPT Enterprise is the version of ChatGPT that OpenAI sells to large companies under a contract. People use the same ChatGPT they know, with apps (OpenAI’s name for connectors), projects, custom GPTs and the latest models. What changes is the contract, how usage is paid for, and how much the company can manage, audit and keep in a chosen region.
The plan below it is ChatGPT Business, formerly ChatGPT Team, which has a published price and runs from 2 to 200 seats per subscription. Most of this guide is about where the line between the two falls, and what neither of them covers.
ChatGPT Enterprise pricing
OpenAI does not publish a price for Enterprise. It is quoted per company through sales. What OpenAI does state, in its help article on flexible pricing (checked 3 November 2026):
- A shared credit pool set in the contract. Credits are bought and allocated at contract level, and the account team raises the pool.
- Credits are for advanced models and features only. Core features such as search, file upload and canvas do not use credits.
- When the pool runs out, advanced features pause unless the owners allow overages or buy more credits. Setting the overage limit to zero blocks them.
- Some agreements are token based, with usage charged in US dollars at the contracted rates. The order form sets the exact terms.
For comparison, OpenAI’s Business billing page lists a Standard seat at $20 a user a month on an annual plan or $25 monthly, and a Premium seat at $100 or $125, in US dollars before tax for most countries, checked 3 November 2026.
ChatGPT Enterprise vs Business
The short version is below. Our ChatGPT Business vs Enterprise guide has the full comparison, the apps setting most companies miss and three questions that decide it.
| ChatGPT Business | ChatGPT Enterprise | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Published, per seat | Not published; contract and credits |
| Size | 2 to 200 seats per subscription | Large organisations |
| Training on your data | No, by default | No, by default |
| Single sign-on | Yes | Yes |
| SCIM provisioning | No, as a standalone plan | Yes |
| Audit logs (Compliance API) | Not listed | Yes |
| Your own retention period | Not listed | Yes |
| Data residency | Storage region rolling out, not for everyone yet | Yes, for eligible workspaces |
| Apps (connectors) | On or off for the whole workspace | Per role, with RBAC and groups |

Data, training and security terms
On training, Business and Enterprise are the same: OpenAI states on its security and privacy page that it does not train its models on organisation data by default. The same page lists a SOC 2 Type 2 report for ChatGPT’s business services, and ISO 27001 and 27701 certification. The differences are in what you can control:
| Control | What Enterprise offers |
|---|---|
| Retention | Owners set a retention policy for the workspace, with a minimum of 90 days according to OpenAI’s admin guidance |
| Data residency | Conversations, files and custom GPTs stored at rest in a chosen region, such as Europe or the UK, for new workspaces (OpenAI announcement). It covers data at rest, not every processing step |
| Encryption keys | Enterprise Key Management, so stored content is encrypted with your own keys |
| Audit | The Compliance API, a time-stamped record of conversations, files, GPTs and users |
| Network | IP allowlisting for the workspace and the Compliance API (admin quickstart) |
For most companies the question that matters is whether confidential work may go into ChatGPT at all. Business already answers it with business terms and a data processing agreement; see is ChatGPT safe for confidential information.
What Enterprise does not give you
Enterprise controls are ChatGPT controls. Per-role apps decide which systems each group reaches from ChatGPT, and the Compliance API records what happened in ChatGPT. Neither reaches Claude or Copilot, and most companies of 50 to 1,000 people run more than one AI tool, officially or not. Rules written separately in each tool drift apart, and a log that covers one tool leaves gaps; that is how shadow AI grows.
When companies under 200 people ask about Enterprise, the reason is rarely SCIM or encryption keys. It is: who can reach our CRM, finance system and files through the AI, and can we see what it did there?
The alternative: Business plus a control layer
That question can be answered outside ChatGPT. Deployed OS is an MCP gateway: the company connects its systems once, and the same MCP connection is added to ChatGPT Business, ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude Team or Enterprise and Microsoft Copilot.
| What you want | Business alone | Business with Deployed OS |
|---|---|---|
| Decide who reaches which systems | Each app on or off for the whole workspace | User groups decide who may read or change what in each system, each person with their own login where the system allows it |
| A log of what the AI did in your systems | Not listed | Every call logged, and the log can be exported |
| Shared ways of working | Custom GPTs and projects | Company skills, the same in ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot |
| Company rules | Workspace settings | Guardrails that come with every question |
This does not add SCIM, a retention period, data residency inside ChatGPT or the Compliance API. Those stay Enterprise features. It does give you control over your company systems and one set of rules across tools, on the plan with the published price. Deployed OS is built by an EU company and you choose where its data is stored. How the rules fit together is set out in AI agent governance and our AI policy guide.
When Enterprise is the right call
- More than 200 people on ChatGPT, the cap for one Business subscription.
- Data must be stored in a chosen region today, while it is still being rolled out on Business.
- Your security team requires SCIM, audit logs or your own keys for every system.
- You need a retention period other than keeping chats until they are deleted.
If one of these applies, Enterprise is the plan, and Deployed OS works on top of it in the same way. Comparing with Claude too? See Claude Enterprise and Claude Team vs Enterprise.
Deployed OS is the control layer described here: your systems connected once, access per user group, company skills and guardrails, and a log of every call, in ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot. See how the connections work, or join the waitlist below.
Frequently asked questions
How much does ChatGPT Enterprise cost?
OpenAI does not publish a price for ChatGPT Enterprise; it is quoted per company through sales. According to OpenAI’s help centre in November 2026, Enterprise workspaces draw on a shared credit pool set in the contract for advanced models and features, while core features such as search and file upload use no credits. ChatGPT Business, by comparison, lists $20 a seat a month on an annual plan.
What is the difference between ChatGPT Enterprise and Business?
Both exclude your data from training by default and support single sign-on. Enterprise adds SCIM provisioning, audit logs through the Compliance API, your own retention period, data residency for eligible workspaces, your own encryption keys and per-role control over apps. Business has a published price and holds up to 200 seats per subscription.
Does ChatGPT Enterprise train on your data?
No. OpenAI states that it does not train its models on organisation data by default, on both Enterprise and Business. OpenAI also lists a SOC 2 Type 2 report and ISO 27001 certification for its business services.
What features does ChatGPT Enterprise have?
On top of Business, Enterprise has SCIM provisioning, the Compliance API, a custom retention policy, data stored at rest in a chosen region, Enterprise Key Management, IP allowlisting and per-role control over apps. The controls apply inside ChatGPT, not in other AI tools the company uses.
Can we get Enterprise-style control on ChatGPT Business?
Partly. An MCP gateway such as Deployed OS adds user groups that decide who may read or change what in each company system, company skills, guardrails and a log of every call that can be exported, in ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot. It does not add SCIM, a retention period, data residency inside ChatGPT or the Compliance API, which remain Enterprise features.
