Business Central MCP: connect Business Central to Claude and ChatGPT

Ask Claude or ChatGPT which customers have overdue invoices, what a customer has bought this year or how many of an item are in stock. The answer comes straight from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Each person signs in with their own Microsoft work account, so the AI works within that person’s Business Central permissions, and it only reads. We set it up for your company next to your other systems.

In practice

What your team can do with Business Central in Claude and ChatGPT

Finance

What is overdue, by customer

Open and overdue sales invoices per customer and due date, with a reminder drafted in the same chat.
Sales

Know the customer before the call

The customer’s details, what they have bought and what is still unpaid, without asking finance.
Operations and purchasing

Items and vendors at a glance

Stock for an item, and what you have bought from a vendor, summarised the way you ask.
Management

The numbers behind the question

General ledger entries for an account or period, summarised in plain language before the board meeting.
Examples

Ask it like this

  • “Which customers have invoices more than 30 days overdue in Business Central?”

  • “What has Nordvik Bygg bought from us this year, and what is unpaid?”

  • “How many of item 1920-S do we have in stock?”

  • “Summarise what we have bought from Holmberg Stål in the last quarter.”

  • “Show the ledger entries on account 6110 for September.”

  • “Draft a friendly reminder to Erikssons Mekaniska about invoice 103045. I will send it myself.”

The connector

What we build for Business Central

Deployed OS has no ready Business Central connector yet. We build it for your company when you start, on Business Central’s own API, with the same rules as every other connector: each person’s own login, access decided by group, every call logged.

Customers and sales invoices
Customers, and sales invoices with their lines, amounts and due dates.
Items and stock
Items with their inventory and prices as the person may see them.
Vendors and purchasing
Vendors and what has been bought from them.
General ledger
General ledger entries per account and period, for the people whose role allows it.
Security

Who sees what

Read-only
The connector reads. It does not post, create invoices or change a record.
Each person’s own Microsoft login
Everyone signs in with their work account, and Business Central applies that user’s own permission sets to every call. The person needs a Business Central licence, as they would to open it themselves.
Your company decides who gets it
Admins choose which groups get Business Central in Deployed OS. A group without access never sees the connector.
Every call logged
Who asked, what was read and when. Deployed OS keeps the log, and it can be exported.
Setup

Set up the Business Central connector in three steps

01
Your Microsoft admin registers an app for your company in Entra ID with delegated Business Central permissions. Your company owns the app, not us.
02
We set up the connector for your environment and companies in Business Central, and you choose which groups get it in Deployed OS.
03
Each person connects with their own Microsoft work account. From then on they just ask.
Compared

Business Central’s own MCP server or Deployed OS?

Microsoft has its own Business Central MCP Server, generally available since April 2026. Every action runs as the signed-in user with their own permissions, and by default it reads the API pages and queries that user may use. For Claude and ChatGPT you register your own Entra app. If Business Central is the only system your team wants in its AI tool, it is a good fit.

Deployed OS is for when Business Central is one system among several. It sits next to your CRM, Microsoft 365 and other tools in one company connection, admins decide which groups get each system, every call is logged in one place, and the same rules apply in Claude and ChatGPT, next to your company’s skills and guardrails.

Questions

Yes. Everyone signs in with their own Microsoft work account, and Business Central applies that user’s permission sets to every call. The AI cannot see more than the person could in Business Central.

Yes. Signing in as yourself through the API needs the same Business Central licence you would need to open it, so the people who should use it through the AI need a licence too.

Deployed is an EU company and fully GDPR compliant, and you choose where your data is stored, down to the city. Business Central data is fetched when someone asks for it.
