Google Drive MCP: connect Google Drive to Claude and ChatGPT
Ask Claude or ChatGPT what the latest price list says about volume discounts, where the onboarding checklist is, or to summarise last week’s board deck. The AI searches Google Drive, reads the file and gives you the link.
With Deployed OS everyone connects their own Google account. The AI finds only the files that person can already open, in My Drive, shared with them or in shared drives. Nothing is created or changed.

“Find our latest price list in Drive and tell me the volume discounts.”
“Summarise the Q3 board deck in five bullets.”
“What does our travel policy say about trains versus flights?”
“Which Docs about the Nordic launch changed in the last two weeks, and who owns them?”
“Read the 2026 budget Sheet and list the cost lines over 100,000.”
“Find the supplier agreement with Holm Logistik and give me the link.”
What the Google Drive MCP connector does today
- Reads
drive_search_filesSearches the Drive files you can open, shared drives included, by words in the name or content. Returns name, type, owner, last change and link for up to 20 files.
- Reads
drive_read_fileReads one file as text: Docs and Slides as plain text, the first sheet of a Sheet as CSV, text files as they are. Other files, such as PDFs, return their details and link. Long text is cut at 200 KB.
Need it to do more? We extend connectors for the companies that use them.
Who sees what
- Read-only
- The connector searches and reads Drive files: Docs, Sheets, Slides and text files as text, other files by name and link. It cannot create, edit, share or delete anything in Google Drive.
- Each person’s own rights
- Everyone connects their own Google account, so the AI finds what that person can open and nothing else. A folder shared only with finance stays with finance.
- You choose who gets it
- Admins decide which groups at the company can use the Google Drive connector at all. Everyone else never sees it.
- Every call logged
- Who searched, which file was read, when. Deployed OS shows reads per connector and per person, the log can be exported, and access is revoked centrally the day someone leaves.

Google Drive’s own MCP server or Deployed OS?
Google runs its own remote MCP servers for Drive, Gmail and Calendar. A developer turns them on in a Google Cloud project and connects an AI client. For one person, or a developer building an agent, that is a good fit.
Deployed OS is built for the whole company: one connection for Google Drive and the rest of your tools, each person’s own login, admins choosing which groups get what, and a log of every call. The same connection works in Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot, next to your company’s skills and guardrails.
Google Drive MCP: common questions
Yes. Google runs remote MCP servers for Drive, Gmail and Calendar that a developer sets up in a Google Cloud project. Deployed OS gives the whole company one connection instead, with each person’s own login, access per group and a log of every call.
No. It only searches and reads. Nothing is created, edited, moved, shared or deleted. If you want it to do more, for example create Docs, we can extend it for you.
Claude and ChatGPT each have their own Google Drive connector, which links one person’s Drive to that one assistant. Deployed OS is your company’s own Google Drive MCP server: the same connection works in Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot, runs on your company’s Google app, and every call is logged.
Not today. Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and text files are read as text. Other files, such as PDFs or uploaded Word files, come back with their name, owner and link. If you need them read, we can extend it for you.
Deployed is an EU company and fully GDPR compliant, and you choose where your data is stored, down to the city. On-premises is possible too. Files are fetched from Drive when someone asks for them.
