Mailchimp MCP: connect Mailchimp to Claude and ChatGPT

Ask Claude or ChatGPT how last Tuesday’s newsletter performed, which campaigns had the best click rate this quarter or whether a customer is still subscribed. The answer comes straight from Mailchimp. No clicking through reports one campaign at a time.

With Deployed OS everyone connects with their own Mailchimp login. The AI sees what that person’s user role lets them see. It reads, and with Edit access it can add a note to a contact. No campaign is ever created, scheduled or sent.

In practice

What your team can do with Mailchimp in Claude and ChatGPT

Marketing

The newsletter review in two minutes

Opens, clicks, unsubscribes and bounces for every campaign sent this month, side by side. See what worked before you plan the next one.
Sales

Check the contact before you call

Is the lead subscribed, which tags do they have and which audience are they in? Search by email or name, then log a note from the call in the same chat.
Customer service

Answer “am I still on the list?”

When a customer asks, find them by email and see their status in every audience: subscribed, unsubscribed, cleaned or pending.
Management

How big is each list?

Subscribed, unsubscribed and cleaned contacts per audience, campaigns sent and average open and click rates. The numbers for the board pack in one answer.
Examples

Ask it like this

  • “How did the September newsletter do? Opens, clicks, unsubscribes and bounces.”

  • “Which campaigns sent this quarter had the highest click rate?”

  • “Is anna.lindqvist@example.com subscribed, and which tags does she have?”

  • “List the contacts in the Customers audience who unsubscribed since 1 September.”

  • “How many subscribed contacts do we have in each audience?”

  • “Add a note to Erik Johansson: met at the Gothenburg fair, wants the spring catalogue.”

The connector

What the Mailchimp MCP connector does today

  • Readsmailchimp_list_audiences

List your audiences with their subscribed, unsubscribed and cleaned contacts, campaigns sent and average open and click rates.

  • Readsmailchimp_search_members

Find contacts by email address or name, in all audiences or one, with their status, audience, tags and rating.

  • Readsmailchimp_list_members

List an audience’s contacts, most recently changed first, up to 100 at a time, optionally by one status or changed since a date.

  • Readsmailchimp_list_campaigns

List campaigns, newest first, by status (draft, paused, scheduled, sending, sent), audience or send date, with open and click rates for sent ones.

  • Readsmailchimp_get_campaign_report

Read the report of one sent campaign: emails sent, opens, clicks, unsubscribes, bounces, abuse reports and forwards.

  • Writesmailchimp_add_member_note

Add an internal note to a contact, only when you asked for it and confirmed the text. Nothing is sent to the contact and nothing else changes.

Security

Who sees what

Reads, plus notes
The connector reads audiences, contacts, campaigns and campaign reports. With Edit access it can add an internal note to a contact. It never creates, schedules or sends a campaign, and never subscribes or unsubscribes anyone.
Each person’s own rights
Everyone connects their own Mailchimp login, so the AI sees what their user role allows. Mailchimp has no finer permissions than that, which is why Deployed OS offers the AI reading and notes only.
You choose who gets it
Admins decide which groups at the company can use the Mailchimp connector at all. Everyone else never sees it.
Every call logged
Who asked, which connector, when. Deployed OS shows reads and writes per connector and per person, and the log can be exported.
Setup

Set up the Mailchimp connector in three steps

01
An admin registers an app in Mailchimp under Account & billing → Extras → Registered apps, with your company’s name and website. Your company owns the app, not us.
02
The admin adds the app’s Client ID and Client Secret to Deployed OS and chooses which groups get Mailchimp.
03
Each person connects with their own Mailchimp login. From then on they just ask.
Compared

Mailchimp’s own MCP server or Deployed OS?

Mailchimp has its own connector for Claude and ChatGPT, built to plan and draft campaigns from your Mailchimp data, and a separate MCP server for transactional email. For one marketer who wants help writing campaigns, it is a good place to start.

Deployed OS is built for the whole company. One Mailchimp app that your company owns, each person’s own login, admins choosing which groups get what, and a log of every call. The same connection works in Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot, next to your other tools and your company’s skills and guardrails.

Questions

Mailchimp MCP: common questions

Yes. Mailchimp has its own connector for Claude and ChatGPT, built for planning and drafting campaigns, and a separate MCP server for transactional email. Deployed OS gives the whole company one Mailchimp connection next to your other tools, with each person’s own login, access per group and a log of every call.

No. It reads audiences, contacts, campaigns and reports. With Edit access it can add an internal note to a contact once you have confirmed the text, and nothing is sent to the contact. If you need more, for example tagging contacts, we can extend it for you.

Yes. Deployed OS is your company’s own MCP, so the same Mailchimp connection works in Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot. People keep the assistant they prefer.

The AI is told to quote only the contact details you asked about, and every call is logged per person. Deployed is an EU company and fully GDPR compliant, and you choose where your data is stored, down to the city.

An admin revokes their access centrally in Deployed OS, the same day. Mailchimp tokens do not expire on their own, so a person can also remove the app in Mailchimp under Account → Extras → API keys → Authorized applications.

It depends on the size of your team. Get in touch and we will walk you through it.
