Outlook MCP: connect Outlook to Claude and ChatGPT

Ask Claude or ChatGPT what the customer wrote about the renewal, what your Thursday looks like, or to draft a reply to the board invite. The answer comes from your own Outlook mail and calendar, with a link back to the message or event.

With Deployed OS everyone connects their own Microsoft 365 work account. Drafts wait in Drafts and new events go on your own calendar. Nothing is sent and nobody is invited.

  • Writesoutlook_create_draft

Creates a plain-text draft in your Drafts folder, new or as a reply that stays in the conversation. Nothing is sent.

Outlook Calendar

  • Readsoutlook_list_events

Lists the events in your calendar between two dates up to 92 days apart, with recurring meetings shown one by one. Can filter on words in the title or place.

  • Readsoutlook_get_event

Reads one event with its attendees and their replies, place, Teams link and description.

  • Writesoutlook_create_event

Adds an event to your own calendar, with a Teams link if you want one. Nobody is invited: proposed attendees are listed in the event text, and you invite them from Outlook.

Security

Who sees what

What it reads and writes
The connector searches and reads your own mail and calendar, creates plain-text drafts and adds events to your own calendar. It cannot send mail, invite anyone, or change or delete existing messages and events.
Each person’s own account
Everyone connects their own Microsoft 365 work account, so the AI sees that person’s mailbox and calendar and nobody else’s.
You choose who gets it
Admins decide which groups at the company get Outlook mail and calendar, and which of them may also create drafts and events. Everyone else never sees them.
Every call logged
Who read, who drafted, who booked, when. Deployed OS shows reads and writes per connector and per person, the log can be exported, and access is revoked centrally the day someone leaves.
Setup

Set up the Outlook connector in three steps

01
An admin registers one single-tenant app in your company’s Microsoft Entra ID, with delegated Microsoft Graph permissions for mail and calendar. The same app registration serves OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams, and your company owns it.
02
The admin adds the directory ID, application ID and client secret to Deployed OS and chooses which groups get Outlook.
03
Each person signs in with their own Microsoft 365 work account. From then on they just ask, in Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot.

Outlook’s own MCP server or Deployed OS?

Microsoft publishes its own MCP servers for Outlook mail and calendar under Work IQ, in preview. They are part of Microsoft Agent 365 and suit a team building agents on Microsoft’s platform.

Deployed OS is one company connection for Outlook and the rest of your tools, with each person’s own login, admins choosing which groups get what, and a log of every call. The same connection works in Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot, next to your company’s skills and guardrails.
