Notion MCP: connect Notion to Claude and ChatGPT

Ask Claude or ChatGPT what the onboarding page says about laptops, which rows in the Roadmap database are due in October, or what was decided in Tuesday’s product sync. The answer comes from Notion, with a link to the page.

With Deployed OS everyone connects their own Notion login and picks which pages to share. The AI reads exactly those, and creates a new page only when someone asks for one.

In practice

What your team can do with Notion in Claude and ChatGPT

Product

The roadmap, row by row

Read the Roadmap database with status, owner and date as plain values. Ask what ships this month and who owns it, without building a new view.
Everyone

The wiki, without the clicking

How do we book travel? What is the process for a new supplier? The AI searches page titles, reads the page and answers with the link.
Team leads

Meeting notes into a page

After the Monday meeting, paste your notes and ask for a clean page under Team / Meetings. A new page every time, and nothing else in Notion changes.
New starters

First week, fewer questions

New colleagues ask the AI instead of three people: where the brand guidelines are, how expenses work, who owns which system. Answers come from your own Notion pages.
Examples

Ask it like this

  • “What does the onboarding page in Notion say about ordering a laptop?”

  • “List the rows in the Roadmap database due in October, with owner and status.”

  • “Summarise the notes from Tuesday’s product sync and list the decisions.”

  • “Find our expense policy page and tell me who approves client dinners.”

  • “Which Notion pages about the API changed most recently?”

  • “Create a page under Team Meetings called “Weekly sync 6 October” with these notes.”

The connector

What the Notion MCP connector does today

  • Readsnotion_search

Search the pages and databases shared with the integration by words in their title, newest change first. Up to 100 results.

  • Readsnotion_read_page

Read one page as text: headings, lists, to-dos, quotes, code, tables and nested blocks, with child pages named. Up to 100,000 characters.

  • Readsnotion_query_database

Read a database’s rows, newest change first, with every property as a plain value: text, numbers, names, dates, checkboxes, links and related ids. Up to 100 rows.

  • Writesnotion_create_page

Create a page under a page you name, with a title and plain text. Nobody is notified and nothing else changes.

Security

Who sees what

Reads, and creates pages
The connector searches page and database titles, reads pages as text and reads database rows with their properties. Its only write is a new page under a page you name, with a title and plain text. It never edits, moves or deletes anything.
Only the pages each person shares
Everyone connects their own Notion login and chooses which pages to share. The AI sees those and nothing else. Missing a page? Share it with the integration from the page’s menu in Notion.
You choose who gets it
Admins decide which groups get the Notion connector, and which of them may create pages. Everyone else never sees it.
Every call logged
Every search, read and new page is logged: who, which connector, when. Deployed OS shows reads and writes per connector and per person, and you can export the log. Access is revoked centrally, including the day someone leaves.
Setup

Set up the Notion connector in three steps

01
A Notion workspace owner creates a public integration under notion.so/profile/integrations, adds the redirect URI and turns on Read content, Insert content and Read user information. Your company owns the integration, not us.
02
An admin adds the integration’s OAuth client ID and client secret to Deployed OS and chooses which groups get Notion.
03
Each person connects their own Notion login and ticks the pages to share. That is the whole setup for them.
Compared

Notion’s own MCP server or Deployed OS?

Notion hosts its own MCP server. A person connects it to their assistant with their Notion login, and it reads and updates the content that person can access. It is a good fit for one person or a developer working in their own tools.

Deployed OS is built for the whole company. One connection for Notion and your other tools, each person’s own login, admins choosing which groups get what, and a log of every call. The same connection works in Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot, next to your company’s skills and guardrails.

Questions

Notion MCP: common questions

Yes. Notion hosts its own MCP server, which one person can connect to their assistant with their Notion login. Deployed OS gives the whole company one connection for Notion and your other tools, with access per group and a log of every call.

It can create a new page under a page you name, with a title and plain text, if you have Edit access and confirm the text. It does not edit, move or delete existing pages or database rows, and nobody is notified. If you want it to do more, for example add rows to a database, we can extend it for you.

Your admin sets up Notion once in Deployed OS. Then you connect your own Notion login and pick the pages to share. Notion now works in Claude, and the same connection works in ChatGPT and Copilot.

Usually one of two reasons. It only sees pages you shared when you connected, so share the page with the integration from its menu in Notion. And search matches words in page titles, so ask with a word from the title.

Deployed is an EU company and fully GDPR compliant, and you choose where your data is stored, down to the city. Notion pages are read when someone asks for them.

It depends on the size of your team. Get in touch and we will walk you through it.
