Confluence MCP: connect Confluence to Claude and ChatGPT
Ask Claude or ChatGPT how the release process works, what the Onboarding space says about access requests, or what the incident runbook says to do first. The AI searches Confluence, reads the page and answers with a link to it.
With Deployed OS everyone connects their own Atlassian account. The AI sees the pages that person can see in Confluence, and it only reads. Nothing is created or edited.

Ask it like this
“What does the Onboarding space say about requesting a VPN account?”
“Search the ENG space for the release checklist and give me the steps.”
“Summarise the Q3 planning notes and list the decisions.”
“Which Confluence pages mention the Atlas migration? Newest first.”
“Read the incident runbook and tell me what to do first when the payments API is down.”
“Is the travel policy page up to date? When was it last changed?”
What the Confluence MCP connector does today
- Reads
confluence_searchSearch the pages you can see by words in their title or text, optionally within one space, newest change first. Up to 50 results, each with an excerpt and link.
- Reads
confluence_read_pageRead one page as text, with its space, version, last change and link. Up to 200,000 characters.
Need it to do more? We extend connectors for the companies that use them.
Who sees what
- Read-only
- The connector searches pages by words in their title or text, within one space if you name it, and reads a page as text with its space, version and last change. It cannot create, edit or comment on anything in Confluence.
- Each person’s own permissions
- Everyone connects their own Atlassian account, so the AI sees what that person sees. A restricted page or space stays restricted through the AI too.
- You choose who gets it
- Admins decide which groups at the company can use the Confluence connector at all. Everyone else never sees it.
- Every call logged
- Every search and page read is logged: who, which connector, when. Deployed OS shows reads per connector and per person, and the log can be exported. Access is revoked centrally, including the day someone leaves.

Confluence’s own MCP server or Deployed OS?
Atlassian runs its own hosted MCP server, the Atlassian Rovo MCP Server. It is generally available for Atlassian Cloud and covers Confluence, Jira and more. It is a good fit when one person or a developer wants Confluence in their own assistant.
Deployed OS is built for the whole company. One connection for Confluence and your other tools, each person’s own login, admins choosing which groups get what, and a log of every call. The same connection works in Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot, next to your company’s skills and guardrails.
Confluence MCP: common questions
Yes. Atlassian hosts the Atlassian Rovo MCP Server, which covers Confluence and Jira, and one person can connect it to their assistant. Deployed OS gives the whole company one connection, with each person’s own login, access per group and a log of every call, next to your other tools.
No. The Confluence connector only reads: it searches pages and reads them as text. Nothing is created, edited or commented on. If you want it to do more, for example create draft pages, we can extend it for you.
Yes. Deployed OS is your company’s own MCP, so the same Confluence connection works in Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot. Support can ask in ChatGPT and engineering in Claude, and both get answers from the same spaces, within their own permissions.
Both, in a way. Your company registers its own Confluence app with Atlassian, and that app connects Confluence to Deployed OS. Deployed OS is your MCP server, so Claude and ChatGPT reach Confluence through it.
The connector works with Confluence Cloud: your company’s site on atlassian.net, such as acme.atlassian.net. Running Data Center? Get in touch and we will look at it with you.
