Perplexity MCP: connect Perplexity to Claude and ChatGPT

Ask Claude or ChatGPT what Nordvik Energi has announced this month, what the latest guidance on the EU AI Act says, or which competitors launched something new this quarter. Perplexity searches the web, and the answer comes back with its sources.

With Deployed OS your company adds one Perplexity API key, and nobody needs an account of their own. Every call is logged under the person who asked, and Perplexity is told nothing about who that was.

In practice

What your team can do with Perplexity in Claude and ChatGPT

Sales

Know the prospect’s news before the call

What the company has announced in the last month, with a link to each source. Two minutes of reading instead of twenty minutes of searching.
Marketing

Competitor watch with sources

What competitors launched or wrote about this quarter, limited to their own sites if you like. Every claim comes with the page it came from.
Legal and compliance

Search only where it counts

Limit a search to official sites such as europa.eu, or to one country, and get ranked pages with dates. Read the source before you rely on it.
Management

Market questions, answered with links

A quick read on a market, a regulation or a company before a board meeting, with the sources listed so anyone can check them.
Examples

Ask it like this

  • “What has Nordvik Energi announced in the last month? Give me the sources.”

  • “Search only europa.eu for the latest guidance on the AI Act and list the pages with dates.”

  • “Have Lindqvist Data, Fjordsoft or Norrsken Systems launched anything new this quarter?”

  • “Find recent news about Holmberg Logistik from Swedish sites.”

  • “What are people writing about four-day work weeks in the Nordics this year? Leave out reddit.com.”

  • “Summarise this week’s news about EU rules for e-invoicing, with links.”

The connector

What the Perplexity MCP connector does today

  • Readsperplexity_ask

Ask Perplexity a question that needs current information from the web, with your company’s key. Returns the answer with its web sources and what the call cost.

  • Readsperplexity_search

Search the web with Perplexity’s Search API, with your company’s key. Returns ranked pages with title, link, a snippet and dates, narrowed by domains, recency or country when you ask.

Security

Who sees what

Search and answers only
The connector asks Perplexity questions and searches the web. It reads nothing stored at Perplexity and changes nothing anywhere.
One company key
An admin adds your company’s Perplexity API key once. Nobody connects an account, and Perplexity gets the question, never who asked it.
Only what the question needs
The AI is told to send only what the question needs, checked against your company’s guardrails, and never personal or confidential data in a web question.
You choose who gets it
Admins decide which groups at the company can use the Perplexity connector at all. Everyone else never sees it.
Every call logged
Every call is logged under the person who asked: who, which connector, when. Deployed OS shows use per connector and per person, and the log can be exported.
Setup

Set up the Perplexity connector in three steps

01
An admin adds API credit in your company’s Perplexity API group, with automatic top-up off or capped, and generates an API key just for Deployed OS.
02
The admin pastes the key into Deployed OS, where it is stored encrypted, and chooses which groups get Perplexity.
03
Nobody needs to connect anything. People in those groups just ask, in Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot.
Compared

Perplexity’s own MCP server or Deployed OS?

Perplexity has its own MCP server, hosted by Perplexity or run locally, with tools to search, ask, research and reason. You sign in with a Perplexity account or an API key. For one person who wants Perplexity in their own assistant or editor, it is a good fit.

Deployed OS is for when the whole company should use it. One company key added once, nobody needing an account of their own, admins choosing which groups get Perplexity, and every call logged under the person who asked. The same connection works in Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot, next to your company’s skills and guardrails.

Questions

Perplexity MCP: common questions

Yes. Perplexity has its own MCP server, and it suits one person well. Deployed OS gives the whole company one connection for Perplexity and your other tools, on one company key, with access per group and a log of every call.

Only the question or search the AI sends, under your company’s key. Nothing about the person asking is sent. Answers are not saved at Perplexity for later retrieval, though Perplexity keeps them under its own retention rules.

No. Your company adds one API key in Deployed OS, and everyone in the groups you choose can use it. Each call is still logged under the person who asked.

Each assistant searches the web in its own way. With Perplexity everyone gets the same search, with sources and with filters for domains, recency and country, on your company’s account, whichever assistant they use.

Not today. It asks Perplexity’s own Sonar model for a focused answer with sources, or returns ranked pages to compare. If you need longer research reports, we can extend it for you.

Deployed is an EU company and fully GDPR compliant, and you choose where your data is stored, down to the city. Questions go to Perplexity only when someone asks.

It depends on the size of your team. Get in touch and we will walk you through it.
