Dynamics 365 MCP: connect Dynamics 365 to Claude and ChatGPT
Ask Claude or ChatGPT which of your open opportunities close this quarter, what the latest notes on Brennan & Hale say or which tasks you have due this week. The answer comes straight from Dynamics 365 Sales, with amounts in their currency and a link to each record.
With Deployed OS every seller signs in with their own Microsoft work account, so the AI sees what their Dynamics 365 security roles let them see. The only things it writes are a note on a record and a task for yourself, when you ask for one.

What the Dynamics 365 MCP connector does today
- Reads
dynamics_searchSearch the accounts, contacts, leads and opportunities you can see by words in their names and email addresses, with Dataverse search. Up to 25, with their ids and links, and it says when there are more.
- Reads
dynamics_list_recordsList the accounts, contacts, leads or opportunities you can see: the open (active) ones unless you ask for all, or only your own. Latest change first, up to 50, with formatted values and links.
- Reads
dynamics_get_recordRead one account, contact, lead or opportunity: its values, its latest 10 notes as text (attached files by name), its next 20 open activities, soonest due first, and its link.
- Reads
dynamics_list_tasksList your own open tasks, soonest due first and those without a due date last, each with what it is regarding and its link.
- Writes
dynamics_create_noteAdd a plain-text note to one account, contact, lead or opportunity, as you, once you have confirmed the text. Nobody is mentioned or notified, and nothing else on the record changes.
- Writes
dynamics_create_taskCreate a task that you own, never anyone else, optionally regarding one account, contact, lead or opportunity and with a due date, once you have confirmed the text. Nobody is notified.

Who sees what
- Reads, plus notes and your own tasks
- The connector searches and reads accounts, contacts, leads and opportunities, with their notes and open activities, and can add a note or a task for yourself. It cannot edit, qualify, win or close a record.
- Your security roles apply
- Everyone signs in with their own work account, so their Dynamics 365 security roles decide what the AI sees. A record a seller can’t open in Dynamics 365 stays hidden from the AI as well.
- Writes only with Edit access
- Admins choose which groups get Dynamics 365, and only groups with Edit access can add notes and tasks. Each one is written as the person asking, after they confirm the text. Nobody is mentioned or notified, though flows set up in your environment may still run.
- Every call logged
- Who asked, which connector, when. Deployed OS shows reads and writes per connector and per person, and the log can be exported.

Dynamics 365’s own MCP server or Deployed OS?
Microsoft has its own MCP servers for Dynamics 365. The Dataverse MCP server runs in your environment: a Power Platform admin turns it on and chooses which MCP clients may connect, with Copilot Studio allowed by default and others, such as Claude, once they are added. It can query, create, update and delete records and tables as the person who signs in. Dynamics 365 Sales also has an MCP server of its own, with the tools behind Microsoft’s sales agents and Copilot in Dynamics 365 Sales.
They suit a team building agents on Microsoft’s platform, or a developer. Deployed OS is for the whole company: one connection for Dynamics 365 and the rest of your tools, with each person’s own login, admins choosing which groups get it and who may write, and a log of every call. The same connection works in Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot, next to your company’s skills and guardrails.
Dynamics 365 MCP: common questions
Yes. Microsoft has the Dataverse MCP server, which a Power Platform admin turns on per environment, and an MCP server for Dynamics 365 Sales. They suit a team building on Microsoft’s platform well. Deployed OS gives the whole company one connection for Dynamics 365 and your other tools, with each person’s own login, access per group and a log of every call.
Two things: it can add a plain-text note to an account, contact, lead or opportunity, and create a task that you own, when you ask and confirm the text. Nobody is mentioned or notified, though flows set up in your environment may still run. No record is edited, qualified, won or closed. If you want it to do more, for example log phone calls, we can extend it for you.
Your admin sets up Dynamics 365 in Deployed OS once. You add your company’s Deployed OS connection in Claude, sign in with your own Microsoft work account and start asking. The same connection works in ChatGPT and Copilot.
Only if their security roles allow it in Dynamics 365. The AI uses each person’s own work account, so the roles, teams and sharing you have set up apply as they are.
Yes. The Entra app your Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams connectors use can serve Dynamics 365 too. The admin adds the Dataverse permission user_impersonation, grants consent and creates a new client secret for it.
Deployed is an EU company and fully GDPR compliant, and you choose where your data is stored, down to the city. Dynamics 365 data is fetched when someone asks for it.
