Salesforce MCP: connect Salesforce to Claude and ChatGPT

Ask Claude or ChatGPT which opportunities close this quarter, what the open cases at Acme Corp are about or how many leads the webinar brought in. The answer comes straight from Salesforce, from SOQL the AI writes for you, with a link to every record.

With Deployed OS everyone connects with their own Salesforce login. The AI sees exactly the records that user can see, and the only thing it writes is a task on their own activity list.

In practice

What your team can do with Salesforce in Claude and ChatGPT

Sales

Ready before the call

The account, its contacts, open opportunities and recent cases, with links, pulled up before you dial. Afterwards, log the call as a task in one sentence.
Sales management

The forecast without the report builder

Opportunities by stage, owner and close date, summed the way you ask. The AI writes the SOQL, so nobody has to build a report first.
Customer service

Case history in one answer

Every open case for a customer, with status and subject, and the account behind it. Know the history before you reply.
Marketing

Lead lists when you need them

Leads by source, status and created date, or which leads from the spring event never converted. Custom fields work too, once the AI has looked up their API names.
Examples

Ask it like this

  • “Which opportunities are set to close this quarter, by stage and owner, and what is the total?”

  • “Show the open cases for Acme Corp, newest first, with status and subject.”

  • “How many leads with source Webinar were created in September, and how many are still Open?”

  • “Find everything we have on Northwind Traders: the account, its contacts and opportunities.”

  • “Which of my accounts have had no activity in the last 90 days?”

  • “Log a call on the Globex opportunity: spoke with Maria, pricing approved, contract goes out Friday.”

The connector

What the Salesforce MCP connector does today

  • Readssalesforce_search

Searches the accounts, contacts, leads, opportunities and cases you can see by words in any field: up to 50 hits with key fields and a link.

  • Readssalesforce_query

Runs a SOQL SELECT as you and returns up to 50 records with the total. It only reads.

  • Readssalesforce_get_record

Reads one record of any object by id: every filled field, related names included, and its link.

  • Readssalesforce_describe_object

Looks up an object’s fields by name or label: type, picklist values and what a lookup points to, so queries use the right names.

  • Writessalesforce_log_activity

Logs a task on your own activity list with subject, notes, related record, person, status and date, once you have confirmed the text. Nobody is notified and no reminder is set.

Security

Who sees what

Reads what you can, logs activities
The connector searches and reads accounts, contacts, leads, opportunities and cases, any record by id and any object through SOQL. The one thing it writes is a task on your own activity list, and only for people with Edit access.
Your Salesforce permissions
Everyone connects their own Salesforce user, so profiles, sharing rules and field access apply as they do in Salesforce. Records you can’t open in Salesforce don’t show up through the AI either.
You choose who gets it
Admins decide which groups get the Salesforce connector, and which of those may log activities. Everyone else never sees it.
Every call logged
Who asked, which connector, when. Deployed OS shows reads and writes per connector and per person, and the log can be exported.
Setup

Set up the Salesforce connector in three steps

01
A Salesforce admin creates a connected app (or external client app) in Setup → App Manager, with OAuth on, the callback URL and scopes Deployed OS gives you, and PKCE required. Your company owns the app, not us.
02
The admin adds the app’s Consumer Key, Consumer Secret and your org’s My Domain host to Deployed OS, and chooses which groups get Salesforce.
03
Each person connects with their own Salesforce login. From then on they just ask.
Compared

Salesforce’s own MCP server or Deployed OS?

Salesforce runs its own hosted MCP servers, generally available since April 2026. An admin turns them on for the org, and AI clients such as Claude and ChatGPT connect as the signed-in user, with Salesforce’s permissions applied. They suit a team that wants Salesforce alone in its AI tool, or a developer exposing flows and Apex actions.

Deployed OS is for the whole company. Salesforce is one connection next to your other tools, each person is on their own login, admins choose which groups get it and who may write, and every call is logged. The same connection works in Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot, next to your company’s skills and guardrails.

Questions

Salesforce MCP: common questions

Yes. Salesforce runs hosted MCP servers of its own, and they suit one team or a developer well. Deployed OS gives the whole company one Salesforce connector next to its other tools, with each person’s own login, access per group and a log of every call.

It can log an activity: a task on your own activity list, related to the record and person you name, once you have confirmed the text. Nobody is notified, no reminder is set and no other record changes. It cannot edit fields, convert leads or delete anything. If you need more, we can extend it for you.

Your admin sets up the Salesforce connector in Deployed OS once. You then connect your own Salesforce login, and Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot all reach Salesforce through the same connection.

Yes. The AI looks up an object’s fields and picklist values, then reads any object through SOQL, your custom ones included. The word search covers accounts, contacts, leads, opportunities and cases.

Yes. The admin enters the sandbox’s My Domain host, for example acme--uat.sandbox.my.salesforce.com, and every call goes there. Moving to production means entering production’s host, and everyone connects again.

It depends on the size of your team. Get in touch and we will walk you through it.
